Democrats are gearing up for political war over the Supreme Court.
The Left is playing for keeps.
And a Democrat Senator’s threat to the Supreme Court just crossed one major line.
New Hampshire Senator Jean Shaheen is one of the most vulnerable Democrats running for re-election in 2022.
Joe Biden’s ghastly poll numbers, and his failures to secure the border and get a handle on inflation, have turned the political environment toxic for swing-state Democrats like Shaheen.
In the face of declining political prospects, Democrats are trying to whip up the base to spike voter turnout.
And the Left settled on using the abortion issue to try and scare voters to the polls.
On December 1, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Woman’s Health, which centers on the state of Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks.
Senator Shaheen issued a dangerous statement about the case, even threatening revolution if the Supreme Court struck down the wrongly decided Roe v. Wade.
“I hope the Supreme Court is listening to the people of the United States because – to go back to Adam Sexton’s question – I think if you want to see a revolution go ahead, outlaw Roe v. Wade and see what the response is of the public, particularly young people,” Shaheen told supporters attending a virtual campaign event. “Because I think that will not be acceptable to young women or young men.”
Shaheen conjured up false scare stories about America before the disastrous Roe decision where Americans elected representatives to resolve the issue of abortion, as is normal in a democracy.
“I’ve lived the consequences of the pre-Roe era – I had friends in college who were forced to seek dangerous back alley abortions because women across the country were denied access to critical family planning services. We cannot allow Republican lawmakers to turn back the clock on women’s reproductive health and rights, which is precisely what the Mississippi case seeks to do. It is time to sound the alarm,” Shaheen later declared. “Roe v. Wade isn’t just a decision that impacts women, their health and their financial security – it also impacts generations of families.”
Democrats know they are likely to lose this case, as the Supreme Court is expected to severely restrict or overturn Roe v. Wade.
In that event, Democrats like Senator Shaheen are desperately trying to motivate their base to turn out and vote because polls – along with the recent elections in Virginia – show conservatives are more enthusiastic than liberals about voting in 2022.
