It’s now officially an election year.
Democrats hope to cling to power.
And a top Republican made two promises about 2022 that every Trump supporter must see.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy stands to become the Speaker of the House if Republicans win back the majority in the 2022 Midterm elections.
However, McCarthy faces criticism from conservatives for being too moderate on issues like the Second Amendment and illegal immigration.
But during a recent interview with Breitbart, McCarthy sought to address those charges.
McCarthy promised that if Republicans won the majority this November, a GOP Congress would not pass any type of amnesty bill.
“We know first and foremost one of our greatest strengths is the rule of law, so you have to have an immigration system based upon the rule of law. You have to secure the border. The immigration system is broken and we’re going to fix it. Yes,” McCarthy stated.
Conservatives look warily on establishment Republicans like McCarthy who depend on raising big money from the donor class.
Since corporations depend on an endless supply of cheap foreign labor, business interests constantly demand Republicans support amnesty.
In 2007 and 2013, Republicans tried to pass mass amnesty for tens of millions of illegal aliens.
Amnesty would also grant citizenship and voting rights to illegal aliens, creating a massive pool of new voters for the Democrat Party.
But a grassroots uprising forced Congress to back down and the push for amnesty stalled both of those times.
McCarthy added that the Republican majority would also reject any new gun control measures.
“One thing I’ve learned is the Second Amendment is one of the most important amendments and you look at all my voting record. Listen, you watch this Congress itself—we believe in the Constitution,” McCarthy added.
If McCarthy sticks to his word that Republicans will not pass gun control, that would be a change from the Paul Ryan-led Republican majority that passed the “Fix NICS” scheme to offer states additional money for participating in a federal gun registration database.
If Republicans win the majority in November, conservatives are worried about what a GOP-run House of Representatives would look like.
McCarthy tried to reach those conservatives with his interview.
That’s why McCarthy made sure to promise no amnesty and no new gun control if the GOP takes back Congress in November.
