Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is completely ignoring the law.
One colossal blunder is coming back to haunt him.
And Alejandro Mayorkas is feeling the heat after a top Republican said these two words.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is presiding over the worst border crisis in the country’s history.
A Biblical flood of illegal aliens and dangerous drugs like fentanyl are pouring across the wide-open southern border.
Mayorkas is aiding and abetting the invasion at the border by refusing to enforce the country’s immigration laws.
Republicans are putting Mayorkas in their crosshairs after taking control of the House of Representatives in the Midterm elections.
Calls for his impeachment are growing by House Republicans as the border crisis spirals out of control.
While the border is engulfed in chaos, Mayorkas has repeatedly claimed that the border is secure.
Andy Biggs (R-AZ) introduced Articles of Impeachment in the House last year against Mayorkas that went nowhere with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in charge.
Biggs, who’s vying to become the next Speaker, said the new House Republican majority needs to “pursue impeachment” charges against Mayorkas right off the bat.
“I expect our Party to pursue impeachment next Congress,” Biggs said at a press conference. “Secretary Mayorkas has committed high crimes and misdemeanors. His conduct is not incompetent. It’s not negligent. It is willful and intentional.”
He was joined at the press conference by twenty house Republicans and some of the architects of former President Donald Trump’s successful border security policies, including former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott and former ICE Director Thomas Homan.
Biggs accused Mayorkas of lying to Congress about the border being under control, not enforcing immigration laws, and not detaining illegal aliens as required by federal law.
“It’s a felony to knowingly make false statements to Congress. That is unless you work for Joe Biden,” Kevin Hern (R-OK) said. “Mayorkas repeatedly claims that the border is under control and that the Biden administration is taking steps to increase security.”
In addition to the calls for impeachment, House Republicans are launching major investigations into Mayorkas’ failures on the border.
Top Republican watchdogs Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) are poised to lead investigations into Mayorkas in the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight Committee.
The investigations could serve as the basis for launching impeachment proceedings against Mayorkas.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the chief rival to Biggs for Speaker, has also put Mayorkas in his crosshairs.
“If Secretary Mayorkas does not resign, House Republicans will investigate every order, every action, and every failure to determine whether we can begin an impeachment inquiry,” McCarthy said.
While House Republicans are ready to move against Mayorkas, the Senate is a different picture.
RINO Mitt Romney claims he has not seen any evidence that would justify impeachment.
With Democrats in control of the Senate, a conviction is unlikely.
But impeaching Mayorkas for his negligence on the border would certainly be black eye for President Joe Biden.
