Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez humiliated herself with a deranged excuse for the crime surge

Murders are at a 25-year high.

Criminals are running rampant on the streets of America’s biggest cities.

And now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez humiliated herself with a deranged excuse for the crime surge.

At least 12 Democrat-run cities set records for murders in 2021.

Crime increasingly ranks as a top issue for voters in the 2022 Midterm elections.

Democrats worry that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s support for the defund the police movement will define the Party of soft-on-crime.

Ocasio-Cortez sought to push back and corner Democrats into refusing to disavow the lunatic movement to defund the police.

In an interview with the New Yorker, Ocasio-Cortez offered up excuse after excuse for the crime wave.

First, Ocasio-Cortez claimed the crime wave was really a “mental health crisis.”

“And we allow the discourse to make it sound as though it’s, like, these shady figures in the bush jumping out from a corner. These are young men. These are boys. We’re also not discussing the mental-health crisis that we are experiencing as a country as a result of the pandemic,” Ocasio-Cortez told the New Yorker’s David Remnick.

Ocasio-Cortez then claimed the real cause of crime was the Senate letting the child-tax credit expire, causing criminals to steal baby formula.

“Because we run away from substantive discussions about this, we don’t want to say some of the things that are obvious, like, Gee, the child-tax credit just ran out on December 31, and now people are stealing baby formula,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

“We don’t want to have that discussion. We want to say these people are criminals or we want to talk about ‘people who are violent,’ instead of ‘environments of violence,’ and what we’re doing to either contribute to that or dismantle that,” Ocasio-Cortez concluded.

The reason for the crime surge is not exactly rocket science.

Democrat Mayors and District Attorneys not only refuse to enforce the law, but also support policies like bail reform that allow career criminals to roam freely on the streets.

The push to defund the police demoralized law enforcement.

And the reaction to the Black Lives Matter riots caused politicians to attack police and elevate rioters, looters, and arsonists into aggrieved individuals with legitimate complaints about the criminal justice system.

Ocasio-Cortez led the way on all of the attacks on law enforcement.

And now that Democrats look like they may pay a political price for adopting an anti-law-enforcement posture, Ocasio-Cortez is looking to shift the blame.
