Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could not help herself.
The socialist Congresswoman just had to start a Democrat Party civil war.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said four words that guaranteed Donald Trump this massive victory.
Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema was one of the many Democrats expressing her outrage at a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade.
But in Senator Sinema’s pro-abortion statement, she reiterated her support for the legislative filibuster.
“Protections in the Senate safeguarding against the erosion of women’s access to healthcare have been used half-a-dozen times in the past ten years, and are more important now than ever,” Senator Sinema’s statement read.
Senator Sinema added that she was a supporter of legislation that would impose abortion-on-demand through the ninth month of pregnancy on all 50 states.
“Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve always supported women’s access to healthcare. I’m a cosponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act, and I’ll continue working with anyone to protect women’s ability to make decisions about their futures,” Senator Sinema added.
This statement enraged Ocasio-Cortez, who claimed that Democrats could pass abortion-on-demand tomorrow if Senator Sinema would get on board with nuking the legislative filibuster and ramming legislation through Congress on a simple majority vote.
“We could protect Roe tomorrow, but Sinema refuses to act on the filibuster. Until that changes, she can take a seat talking about ‘women’s access to health care,”’ Ocasio-Cortez declared.
But Ocasio-Cortez made it clear this was no mere policy disagreement.
Ocasio-Cortex told her nearly 13 million Twitter followers that Senator Sinema not supporting eliminating the legislative filibuster was a career-ending offense, declaring “she should be primaried.”
“Hold everyone contributing to this disaster accountable, GOP & Dem obstructionists included. She should be primaried,” Ocasio-Cortez ranted.
Democrats should be careful about following Ocasio-Cortez down this path.
Polls show Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup.
The 2024 Senate map is already favorable to Republicans, with Democrats having to defend seats in Montana, Ohio, West Virginia, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
If Democrats successfully primary challenge Senator Sinema with an Ocasio-Cortez backed socialist, they can kiss that Senate seat goodbye in the General Election.
And that could prove to be what allows Donald Trump to enter the White House in 2025, armed with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
