This was the moment that New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was dreading.

One mistake from her past came back to bite her.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saw her political future flash before her eyes from this major scandal.

In 2021, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) made waves in the media when she attended the Met Gala in a designer dress with the phrase “Tax the Rich” on it.

The Met Gala is a star-studded fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City.

The A-List event brings out Hollywood celebrities and other bigwigs dressed in ridiculous outfits and Ocasio-Cortez did everything in her power to draw attention to herself.

Now, that decision is coming back to haunt her after the House Office of Congressional Ethics unanimously recommended that the House Ethics Committee move forward with its investigation into the socialist Congresswoman.

Conservative watchdog groups filed a complaint with the House Ethics Committee after Ocasio-Cortez attended the event.

The report from the Office of Congressional Ethics said that Ocasio-Cortez is accused of taking “impermissible gifts associated with her attendance at the Met Gala in 2021,” which could violate House rules and conduct along with federal law.

The report added that she “received a series of goods and services which she did not pay for” until she tried to pay back after the investigation was opened.

“As part of her attendance, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was provided with a couture dress, handbag, shoes, and jewelry,” the report stated. “She also received hair, makeup, transportation, and ready-room services.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s fiancé, Riley Roberts, is also alleged to have received attire to attend the event.

The report said after the Office of Congressional Ethics contacted her about the investigation, she began to pay back the rental value of the goods she received.

The Ethics Office noted that Ocasio-Cortez still might not have paid back “several thousands of dollars’ worth of goods and services provided to her.”

Ocasio-Cortez could also be in hot water over the $35,000 ticket she received to attend the Met Gala.

House members are allowed to take free tickets to charity events directly given to them by event organizers but she attended as a guest of Vogue Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.

Invitations to the Met Gala are controlled by Vogue’s parent company Conde Nast and corporations’ sponsor tables at the event.

That could put her in direct violation of House Ethics rules by receiving a major gift from a corporation.

Her custom-made “Tax the Rich” dress had an estimated cost of $30,000.

Ocasio-Cortez loves to rail against the rich but couldn’t help but indulge herself in the life of luxury for a night.

As always with socialists, the rules are for the little people.

Now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s penchant for drawing attention to herself is poised to do serious damage to her political career.
