Democrats and the Fake News Media are searching for any hints of daylight between the Republicans and Donald Trump.
They want to play up any quotes from Republicans that shy away from the President’s line as evidence Republicans will announce their support for removing the President at any moment.
And all hell broke loose when one top Republican revealed how many Senators want to impeach Trump.
Fake news CNN engages in this game of inventing divisions within the Republican Party.
CNN congressional correspondent Jamie Gangel claimed Republicans were throwing in the towel on defending President Trump.
“They’re saying they are ‘fed up and tired of being asked to defend the president,’” Gangel added. “They say there is a growing unease, that there is no defense. ‘We can’t defend the substance. All we can do is talk about the process.’ Taylor’s testimony is just the beginning. They don’t know what’s coming next. So I think the words ‘growing unease’ are an understatement for how they’re feeling right now.”
This was all fake news.
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn – the number two Republican in the Senate – put a stop to the ridiculous speculation that Republicans were ready to jump ship on Trump.
Yahoo News reported:
But GOP Senator John Cornyn of Texas, an adviser to McConnell, said no one should expect significant defections in the Republican ranks, and not because they are fearful of becoming a target of Trump’s derogatory tweets.
“Republicans I don’t believe think it’s in their long-term policy interest to divide the party in order to elect Democrats,” Cornyn told reporters. “That’s what I think the calculation is.”
There is no political benefit for Republicans supporting impeachment.
Republicans forced Richard Nixon to leave office in August 1974, and that November, the GOP lost 49 House seats and four Senate seats.
A similar electoral bloodbath would await the GOP if they abandoned Trump.
