An actor answered this big question about a sequel to an Arnold Schwarzenegger classic

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in some of the biggest movies of the 1980s and 1990s.

Rumors have swirled that one of his classics could be getting a long-awaited sequel.

And an actor answered this big question about a sequel to an Arnold Schwarzenegger classic.

Action icon Arnold Schwarzenegger and comedian Danny DeVito were the classic odd couple on screen.

One was a hulking Austrian bodybuilder and the other was a short, sharp-witted comedian.

The two starred together in the 1988 buddy comedy Twins – which marked Schwarzenegger’s first major starring role outside the action genre – and the 1994 comedy Junior.

Twins became a surprising hit with the pair cast as genetically modified twins who were separated at birth.

A sequel to Twins was rumored to be in the works for years but the death of director Ivan Reitman in 2022 seemed to end that plan.

Schwarzenegger said that Reitman’s death meant that a Twins sequel was off the table in 2023, but of course, nothing is ever final in sequel-obsessed Hollywood.

Danny DeVito weighs on upcoming project with Arnold Schwarzenegger

DeVito was interviewed at the premiere of his latest movie, Poolman, about the possibility of teaming up with Schwarzenegger again for a movie.

“We really want to work together and we’ve been talking about it for quite a while,” DeVito said. “We’re onto something now, we have a script being written. As soon as that comes in we’ll know better, but we’ll do it at Warner Brothers, so there you go.”

He and Schwarzenegger teamed up at the Oscars again this year to present the award for Outstanding Editing.

DeVito said that he and the Terminator star had a natural onscreen chemistry.

“He’s a good buddy, you know? He’s just a good pal. So you know, and we go together kind of. We fit, right?” DeVito said.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito discuss future plans after reuniting for State Farm ad

The duo starred in a Super Bowl commercial for State Farm last February where they discussed the possibility of reuniting on the big screen.

“When we lost Ivan, rest his soul, we were about to work with him again on a sequel for Twins,” DeVito said. “I think where my head is — and I think Arnold’s in the same spot — we want to work together. We want to do another movie together, whether it’s a sequel or a new element that’s another story. Just has to be good, funny, entertaining for us that fits with our characters, and what people want to see. And that’s what we’re aiming for.”

Schwarzenegger said that he knew early on in filming Twins that the pair had undeniable chemistry.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s a chemistry and you cannot make that up with acting or anything like that,” Schwarzenegger added. “It is the number one most important thing — you’ve got to like each other, respect each other and you just click. When we did Twins we recognized when we did the first few scenes how much fun we were together and how Danny plays off me and I play off Danny. It’s just a match made in heaven, really.”

It seems that the possibility of a Twins sequel is back on the table for the veteran duo.
