Andrew Cuomo suffered a massive defection that means his time in office is up

The walls are closing in on New York’s Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo is facing impeachment after the state attorney general released a report detailing allegations Cuomo has sexually harassed 11 women.

And now Andrew Cuomo suffered a massive defection that means his time in office is up.

Governor Cuomo’s top aide Marisa DeRosa resigned in the clearest signal yet that Cuomo will leave office either by impeachment or resignation.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve the people of New York for the past 10 years. New Yorkers’ resilience, strength, and optimism through the most difficult times has inspired me every day,” DeRosa’s resignation announcement read.

“Personally, the past 2 years have been emotionally and mentally trying. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such talented and committed colleagues on behalf of our state,” DeRosa added.

DeRosa did not provide an explanation for why she resigned, but it was not hard to figure out her reason.

Democrats in the state legislature are preparing impeachment proceedings against Cuomo after New York Attorney General Letitia James’ bombshell report laid out the evidence in the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo.

The report was worse than Cuomo feared.

Top Democrats including Joe Biden demanded Cuomo resign from office.

And Cuomo has buckled under the pressure, resigning on Tuesday.

DeRosa can see the handwriting on the wall that Cuomo’s political career is over.

Governor Cuomo may be lucky if leaving office in disgrace is the worst of the consequences he faces.

Cuomo may even face prosecution as one of his accusers filed a criminal complaint with the Albany County Sheriff.

DeRosa saw a sinking ship and jumped off at the first opportunity.
