Barack Obama got hit with a Supreme Court curveball that will put your jaw on the ground

Former President Barack Obama now has a big problem facing him.

It came from a surprising source.

And Barack Obama got hit with a Supreme Court curveball that will put your jaw on the ground.

Left-wing comedian and host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight, John Oliver, tore into Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Chuck Schumer over a leaked draft of an opinion by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito overturning Roe v. Wade.

Oliver staked out ground as an abortion-on-demand fanatic, claiming that abortion as a means of birth control was perfectly fine with him.

“Some who get abortions are survivors of rape or incest, others might need one for medical reasons, but also just to be clear, some will be seeking abortion because they fucking want one, and this is very much about them, too,” Oliver ranted. “This is a fight for people’s right to have control over their bodies. It’s about bodily autonomy.”

Oliver also attacked Democrats for waiting decades to try and pass a bill codifying Roe v. Wade into law.

“But, of course, they didn’t do that. Nor did they do it as the anti-abortion movement kicked into high gear in the late 1970s, with the support of evangelical leaders like Jerry Falwell, who helped elevate the abortion issue as a way of motivating conservative voters to the polls. They didn’t even do it as anti-abortion legislators managed to pass a thousand restrictions into law at the state level,” Oliver added.

Oliver fumed that Obama, Clinton, and Schumer were “squeamish in their defense of abortion.”

But there is a good reason for that.

Democrats like Obama believe in abortion-on-demand up until the moment of birth.

This stance is wildly unpopular with voters.

Donald Trump calling attention to Hillary Clinton’s support for unlimited abortion helped swing the 2016 election, as voters who made the Supreme Court their number one issue broke 58 to 41 for Trump.

But despite the political toxicity of the Left’s support for unregulated abortion, Oliver demanded Democrats plunge headfirst into this debate.

“We need elected officials to stop tiptoeing around the issue of abortion and take steps to properly safeguard it,” Oliver exclaimed. “The dream version of this would be a Constitutional amendment that’d support people’s fundamental rights to make personal decisions about contraception, pregnancy, marriage, and family life.”

Democrats initially thought the leak of the Supreme Court’s opinion overturning Roe v. Wade would galvanize their left-wing base.

But the more Democrats lean in to their position of codifying abortion-on-demand up until the moment of birth, the more swing voters they will alienate.

The 2016 election was proof positive of this fact.
