Former President Barack Obama has made it clear his only goal right now is defeating Donald Trump in November.
And Obama will go to any lengths to accomplish that mission.
That was proven when Barack Obama told one lie about Trump that could change the election.
Appearing on David Plouffe’s podcast, Obama fanned the flames of a conspiracy theory that Donald Trump is sabotaging the Postal Service by removing mailboxes to tamper with the election and undermine mail in voting.
“What we’ve seen in a way that is unique to modern political history is a president who is explicit in trying to discourage people from voting,” Obama claimed. “What we’ve never seen before is a president say, ‘I’m going to try to actively kneecap the postal service to encourage voting and I will be explicit about the reason I’m doing it.'”
“That’s sort of unheard of,” Obama added.
But it’s not “unheard of.”
In fact what is going on with retiring and removing mailboxes is routine.
USPS spokeswoman Katie Frum explained to The Blaze that the Postal Service removes mailboxes in areas with low volume as a cost saving measure.
“Historically, mailboxes have been removed for lack of use and installed in growth areas,” Frum told the Hill. “Relocating low-use boxes to high traffic areas such as shopping centers, business parks, grocery stores, etc. for increased customer convenience.”
“When a collection box consistently receives very small amounts of mail for months on end, it costs the Postal Service money in fuel and work hours for letter carriers to drive to the mailbox and collect the mail,” she continued. “Removing the box is simply good business sense in that respect. It is important to note that anyone with a residential or business mailbox can use it as a vehicle to send outgoing mail,” Frum continued.
From 2011 to 2016, the Postal Service removed 14,000 mailboxes while Barack Obama was President.
Obama even wanted to cut mail service to five days a week because the post office lost so much money.
And in 2009, The Washington Post noted that since 1989 the Postal Service removed more than 200,000 mailboxes.
Obama and other Democrats are trying to scare voters for two reasons.
First, they are trying to juice their own turnout.
Second, they want a ready-made conspiracy theory on hand in case Trump wins to immediately delegitimize his election.
