The Democrat Party just handed Republicans a 2028 gift they didn't even have to ask for.
Bill Maher went on CNN to deliver it himself.
And what Bill Maher admitted about the socialist takeover of his own party should terrify every Democrat who wants to win a general election.
Maher's Warning the Left Does Not Want to Hear
Maher told Fareed Zakaria Sunday that Republicans are headed for a "classic historical a– whooping" in November.
Democrats will clip that quote and put it on a bumper sticker.

However, they should pay more attention to what he said next.
"2028 is a different story," Maher said. "The Democrats have a crazy animal living in their house called the DSA, and they believe truly insane things. And they're the energy of the party, and they're going to make Gaza a genocide, a litmus test, and a lot of other really stupid stuff."
That's Bill Maher – not Sean Hannity, not Tucker Carlson – describing the group now driving Democrat primary energy heading into 2028.
The DSA Has Already Won More Than 30 Primaries
This isn't a fringe concern.
The Democrat Socialists of America have notched more than 30 primary wins in 2026 alone.
They swept New York City races in June, flipped the Washington D.C. mayoral primary, and knocked off veteran incumbent Democrats in Pennsylvania and Colorado.
AOC endorsed DSA candidates throughout the summer – then rejoined the organization herself in August after a seven-year gap, right as speculation exploded about a 2028 presidential run or a primary challenge to Chuck Schumer.
Schumer sits at a 25% favorable rating in his own state.
The DSA's New York City co-chair has already said the group would be "thrilled" at an AOC presidential run – and confirmed they "will be trying to influence the next presidential primary."
They're not hiding it.
What Maher Actually Got Right
Maher has been making this argument longer than most Democrats want to admit.
https://twitter.com/EricAbbenante/status/2107653938149278147?s=20
He said in 2022 that Democrats would get "their a– kicked" in midterms because they had become the party of "no common sense."
He was right then.
He said Trump was right about illegal immigration and right about the insanity festering on college campuses.
Now he's raising the alarm about the DSA – and the real question isn't whether he's right.
It's whether anyone in the Democrat Party has the power to stop it.
The Mechanism No Longer Exists
The party establishment that stopped Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020 – phone calls between governors, coordinated primary exits, donor pressure – doesn't have the same institutional authority it once did.
The DSA's primary wins aren't flukes.
They reflect a coordinated national push, with chapters coast to coast mobilizing young voters who treat Gaza as a defining moral issue and have no interest in electability lectures from the same party that gave them Biden in 2024.
Maher understands the trap.
If the DSA controls the 2028 primary and turns Gaza into a litmus test, whoever survives that primary will spend the general election defending positions that cost them swing state voters.

The White House dismissed Maher's midterm prediction entirely – pointing to Trump's record on taxes, the border, energy, and prescription drug costs as the contrast Republicans will run on in November.
They're right that Trump's record is a strong argument.
But the more interesting play is sitting back and watching the DSA finish the job.
Because if Maher is right about 2028, Republicans won't need to beat whoever the Democrats nominate.
The DSA will have already beaten them in the primary.
