Dr. Fauci has been at the center of controversy about the origins of the coronavirus.
Now Fauci could be in deep trouble.
And these bombshell smoking gun documents could land Dr. Fauci in jail.
Dr. Fauci has repeatedly denied under oath that the National Institute of Health funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Critics pointed to a $600,000 grant funneled to EcoHealth Alliance which the front group then transferred to the Wuhan Institute of Virology as evidence Fauci lied.
Now, The Intercept published a jaw-dropping story after obtaining 900 pages of documents surrounding the National Institute of Health’s work with Ecohealth Alliance.
And The Intercept’s story showed that U.S. taxpayer money funded gain-of-function research on coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
“The bat coronavirus grant provided the EcoHealth Alliance with a total of $3.1 million, including $599,000 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology used in part to identify and alter bat coronaviruses likely to infect humans. Even before the pandemic, many scientists were concerned about the potential dangers associated with such experiments. The grant proposal acknowledges some of those dangers: “Fieldwork involves the highest risk of exposure to SARS or other CoVs, while working in caves with high bat density overhead and the potential for fecal dust to be inhaled,” The Intercept reported.
The Intercept’s reporting also showed that Ecohealth Alliance knew how dangerous this gain-of-function research was by keeping track of any researchers at the Wuhan lab bitten by animals and or exposed to the virus as part of the tests.
“In this proposal, they actually point out that they know how risky this work is. They keep talking about people potentially getting bitten — and they kept records of everyone who got bitten,” Broad Institute molecular biologist Alina Chan told The Intercept. “Does EcoHealth have those records? And if not, how can they possibly rule out a research-related accident?”
These documents add to the ever growing pile of evidence that the U.S. government – under the direction of Dr. Fauci – funded the research that may have caused the lab leak that kicked off the pandemic.
Another expert told The Intercept that the documents showed researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology created novel coronaviruses as part of their work.
“According to Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist at Rutgers University, the documents contain critical information about the research done in Wuhan, including about the creation of novel viruses,” The Intercept reported.
This reporting will surely lead to new calls for Dr. Fauci to appear before Congress and explain his previous testimony and how he can claim he did not lie to Congress.
