Chuck Schumer Called Donald Trump Unwell and a New Book Just Destroyed His Credibility

Chuck Schumer accidentally called for funding ICE on the Senate floor two months ago.

Now he's diagnosing the President of the United States from his phone.

Schumer claimed that Trump's mental health is "getting worse by the day" – and a book published last year just reminded everyone exactly what Schumer knew, and when he knew it.

The Man Who Covered for Biden Now Wants to Talk About Mental Fitness

According to Original Sin – the new book by CNN's Jake Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson – Biden would phone Schumer and hang up having never remembered why he called.

He would ramble through conversations and lose names mid-sentence.

Schumer knew all of it.

While this was happening, Schumer was posting on X that Biden was "in command and impressive" in their meetings.

While Democratic senators were privately in freefall – Tapper and Thompson document that only three to five of them raised their hands when asked who still believed Biden should stay on the ticket – Schumer was telling those same senators to keep quiet.

"If we do something public, he will get his back up," Schumer told them.

So they said nothing. Publicly, Schumer vouched for Biden right up until the June 2024 debate made it impossible.

Then he personally flew to Delaware and told Biden his own pollsters gave him a 5% chance of winning.

The Standard Schumer Applied to Biden Does Not Exist

The White House did not take Schumer's Trump diagnosis lying down.

A spokesperson told reporters that Trump "continues to work with great energy" – and then noted that Trump is more active than Joe Biden was.

That is not spin. That is the only relevant comparison.

Biden's team spent the final eighteen months of his presidency cutting his public schedule, limiting press conferences, and managing media access in ways no modern president had ever required.

Special counsel Robert Hur documented Biden's memory as having "significant limitations" – in a legal filing, not a campaign attack ad.

Biden called Egyptian President el-Sisi the president of Mexico at a live press conference.

At a 2023 press conference in Vietnam, he announced he was going to bed – and his own press secretary walked out and ended the event on the spot.

Through all of it, Schumer said nothing publicly.

Now Trump posts on Truth Social about political opponents and the 2020 election, and Schumer types "He is unwell" on his phone and hits send.

What This Is Really About

Democrats have one play left: convince America that Trump is mentally unfit.

They cannot run on the border. They cannot run on inflation. They cannot run on the economy.

They cannot run on Biden – because Schumer and every other Democrat who spent two years covering for a president who was losing his train of thought mid-call now has to pretend that chapter never happened.

Schumer was so worried about Biden's fitness that he personally flew to Delaware and told him to quit.

He was so worried about Trump's fitness that he posted about it online.

That tells you everything about what this actually is – not a diagnosis, but a party with no remaining argument trying to change the subject.

A senator who spent two years protecting a man he privately knew was declining is now pointing the finger at the man who replaced him.

Trump isn't getting worse by the day.

Schumer's credibility is.
