Chuck Schumer has led the resistance to Donald Trump at every turn.
The Democrats have obstructed nominees and legislation in order to ensure Trump’s Presidency ends in failure.
But the Democrats overreached and Schumer picked a fight that is going to end in his most massive defeat.
Schumer is leading the charge to defeat Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court.
Democrats have little leverage since they are in the minority.
But Schumer’s plan is to pressure red state Democrats to withhold their support to ramp up pressure on fence-sitting Republicans.
“Schumer’s strategy starts like this: Hold his caucus in line and force Republicans to cough up 50 votes on their own.
While his red-state members stall in the face of attacks from their GOP challengers, Schumer hopes to place massive pressure on moderate Republicans by raising damaging questions about Kavanaugh’s views on abortion, health care and presidential power. His top GOP targets are Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Libertarian-leaning Republican Rand Paul of Kentucky is also publicly wavering.
The longer that GOP trio stays undecided, leaving Kavanaugh short of the simple majority needed to get confirmed, the better Democrats believe their chance is of prevailing — while also giving cover to endangered Democratic incumbents.”
This will end in a massive defeat for the Democrats.
Rand Paul has already announced he will vote for Judge Kavanaugh.
And Susan Collins says she is feeling less pressure over this vote than the one to repeal Obamacare.
Judge Kavanaugh will be confirmed and Schumer and the Democrats will suffer a demoralizing defeat just weeks before the midterm elections.
