Clarence Thomas dropped the hammer on Democrats by asking one simple question

The new Supreme Court term features several high-profile cases.

Once again, Democrats look like they are about to lose big time.

And that’s because Clarence Thomas dropped the hammer on Democrats by asking one simple question.

One of the big cases of the current Supreme Court term involves the Justices ruling on the constitutionality of affirmative action programs at Harvard University and at the University of North Carolina.

During oral arguments, Justice Clarence Thomas obliterated the claims that affirmative action promotes diversity by asking if anyone making that argument could actually define what the word means.

“I’ve heard the word ‘diversity’ quite a few times, and I don’t have a clue what it means. It seems to mean everything for everyone,” Justice Thomas declared. “I’d also like you to give us a clear idea of exactly what the educational benefits of diversity at the University of North Carolina would be.”

Justice Thomas’ past opinions on affirmative action – where the Court upheld the controversial practice – made it clear he believes the program is racist.

“I note that racial engineering does in fact have insidious consequences,” Thomas wrote in a case involving affirmative action at the University of Texas. “There can be no doubt that the University’s discrimination injures white and Asian applicants who are denied admission because of their race. But I believe the injury to those admitted under the University’s discriminatory admissions program is even more harmful.”

Justice Thomas wrote that affirmative action programs allow minority applicants to attend more prestigious schools whereas they would have otherwise attended less selective schools.

“Blacks and Hispanics admitted to the University as a result of racial discrimination are, on average, far less prepared than their white and Asian classmates,” Thomas added.

“The University admits minorities who otherwise would have attended less selective colleges where they would have been more evenly matched,” Justice Thomas argued. “But, as a result of the mismatching, many blacks and Hispanics who likely would have excelled at less elite schools are placed in a position where underperformance is all but inevitable because they are less academically prepared than the white and Asian students with whom they must compete. Setting aside the damage wreaked upon the self-confidence of these overmatched students, there is no evidence that they learn more at the university than they would have learned at other schools for which they were better prepared. Indeed, they may learn less.”

The Left lost big during the last term when the Supreme Court greatly expanded the scope of the Second Amendment and overturned Roe v. Wade.

This term it looks like affirmative action is on the chopping block.

All six conservative Justices expressed some level of hostility towards affirmative action.

Justice Thomas is clearly pushing to end affirmative action in one fell swoop.

The only question remaining appears to be how far the other five Republican-appointed Justices are willing to go.
