CNN drove the final nail in their coffin with this fake news story about Russia

CNN’s anti-Trump crusade just came back to bite them.

The network celebrated what they thought was the smoking gun that proved Trump colluded with Russia.

But it ended up being the final nail in their coffin.

CNN led 4 hours of program with a supposed bombshell story.

The network claimed two sources informed them that Donald Trump, Jr. received an email on September 4th from someone named Mike Erickson providing a link and encryption key.

CNN promoted this as a bombshell with top of the hour coverage throughout the morning because it appeared to them as evidence a mole provided the Trump team advanced knowledge of hacked Clinton emails.

But within hours the story crumbled.

The date of the email sent to Trump Jr. was September 14th.

That was a pivotal detail as WikiLeaks tweeted out the link to the emails and the encryption key on September 13th.

All the Trump team was sent was a link to publically available information.

This was hardly master espionage.

Erickson was also a Trump supporter who had previously donated $40 to the campaign.

The Daily Caller reports:

“But a copy of the email provided to The Daily Caller shows that Erickson sent the email on Sept. 14.

That date is significant because WikiLeaks had released a batch of stolen documents on Sept. 13. The group touted its release of the DNC documents, which were published by Guccifer 2.0.

The email shows that Erickson messaged Trump Jr. stating that “Wikileaks has uploaded another (huge 678 mb) archive of files from the DNC.”

“It is too big for me to send you by e-mail attachments, but you can download it yourselves,” he added, providing a link to the same website cited by Wikileaks the day before.
