Democrats Are Celebrating a Fox News Poll Conducted by a Democrat Who Has Been Wrong Three Elections in a Row

The same pollsters who missed Trump's margin in 2024 just released a new survey – and Democrats are calling it proof they'll take the House.

Fox News published it Wednesday under its own banner, but the fine print tells a different story.

And Democrats are celebrating a Fox News poll conducted by a Democrat who has been wrong three elections in a row.

This Poll Is Built on Registered Voters – Not the People Who Actually Show Up

The Fox News poll surveyed 1,211 registered voters.

Not likely voters.

Registered voters.

That distinction is everything.

Registered voters include tens of millions of Americans who haven't cast a ballot in years – people who lean Democrat in surveys and then stay home on Election Day.

Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer made this point on Fox News itself during the 2022 midterms, arguing that registered-voter polls carry a built-in Democrat bias because likely voters – the ones who actually show up – consistently skew more Republican.

He was right then.

He's right now.

In 2014, Republicans were trailing in registered-voter surveys and swept the midterms anyway – because turnout flipped the result.

The media didn't tell you that part.

The Pollsters Conducting This Survey Have Missed Republicans Three Elections Running

The Fox News poll is conducted jointly by Beacon Research – a Democratic firm – and Shaw & Company Research.

Here's what the broader polling industry, using identical methods, got wrong in recent cycles.

In 2016, public polls understated Trump's support.

In 2020, they did it again – by a wider margin.

In 2024, national polls understated Trump's support in all seven swing states, missing his actual performance by 2 to 3 points on average, according to NBC News's post-election review.

Three elections in a row.

The NRCC's own pollsters were seeing such favorable numbers for Republicans in 2024 they reportedly questioned whether their data could be accurate – only to find out on Election Night they had been right all along.

Now those same national registered-voter surveys are telling you Trump is finished and Democrats are surging.

Ask yourself why you'd believe them this time.

The Numbers Democrats Are Cheering Tell a Different Story Up Close

The poll shows Democrats trusted on inflation by 15 points.

But the same poll explains why that number is nearly worthless as an election predictor.

More than half the voters who say they trust Democrats on inflation – 51 percent – say that trust comes from Republican failures, not any confidence that Democrat policies will actually lower prices.

That's not enthusiasm for Democrats.

That's frustration being logged as a protest preference – and protest preferences don't survive contact with an actual ballot.

The poll also shows both parties deeply underwater on favorability.

Democrats sit at minus-11.

Republicans at minus-17.

Nobody loves the Democrats.

Voters are angry at Republicans – which is a very different thing heading into an election where turnout is everything.

And there's one number buried in this poll the media is skipping past entirely.

On immigration – the issue that drove millions of new voters to Trump in 2024 – Republicans still lead.

One point, yes.

But that one-point Republican edge exists inside a registered-voter sample from pollsters who have understated Republican support in three straight national elections.

Correct for that historical pattern and the number shifts considerably.

The media wants you demoralized before a single vote is cast.

The only poll that has been right three elections in a row is the one conducted on the first Tuesday of November.

There are 48 days until that one.
