Democrats let the cat out of the bag on why Joe Biden isn’t running in 2024

Joe Biden’s status for 2024 is one of the great unanswered questions in American politics.

But Joe Biden just got some bad news on that front.

And Democrats let the cat out of the bag on why Joe Biden isn’t running in 2024.

The New York Times ran a jaw-dropping story over the weekend highlighting complaints from prominent Democrats that Joe Biden was too old, too incompetent, and too clearly in cognitive decline to run for re-election in 2024.

“To say our country was on the right track would flagrantly depart from reality,” Florida Democratic National Committee member Steve Simeonidis told the New York Times, adding that Biden “should announce his intent not to seek re-election in ’24 right after the midterms.”

Former Barack Obama chief strategist David Axelrod added that if Joe Biden ran for re-election, the fact that he would be 86 years-old by the end of his second term would be a major campaign issue.

“The Presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the President would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,” Axelrod stated.

Axelrod claimed one reason Biden’s poll numbers were so anemic was due to the fact that he looked and acted every bit of his 79 years of age.

“Biden doesn’t get the credit he deserves for steering the country through the worst of the pandemic, passing historic legislation, pulling the NATO alliance together against Russian aggression, and restoring decency and decorum to the White House,” Axelrod explained. “And part of the reason he doesn’t is performative. He looks his age and isn’t as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn’t rooted in reality.”

Joe Biden not running for re-election puts Democrats in a conundrum.

Democrats such as Pete Buttigieg, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and Amy Klobuchar are all rumored to run if Biden passes.

But that means competing against Kamala Harris and explaining to woke Democrats why they should take the nomination away from the first black female Vice President in American history.

However, Harris is even more unpopular than Biden.

That means she is likely a sure-fire loser in a General Election.
