Kamala Harris’ Presidential campaign rollout is not going well.
The California Democrat – while being praised by the media – suffered a series of setbacks.
And that was topped off by Donald Trump destroying her with one surprise announcement.
Conservatives panicked when a report surfaced in the Wall Street Journal that the White House counsel’s office was going to allow California Democrats Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris to pick the nominees to fill vacancies on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Trump promised to reshape the courts by nominating strong conservatives, but his administration – without the President’s knowledge – was going to pass on that opportunity by allowing radical leftist Senators to pick progressive judicial nominees in exchange for a vague promise to go easy
on the next Supreme Court nominee.
Fortunately, when Trump found out about the administration’s backdoor wheeling and dealing, he renominated three conservative candidates without any input from Harris or Feinstein.
Fox News reports:
California Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris lashed out at the White House after President Trump, under pressure from conservative activists, re-nominated two conservative California judges to the 9th Circuit federal appeals court over their opposition.
“We are deeply disappointed that the White House has chosen to re-nominate Daniel Collins and Kenneth Lee to the 9th Circuit,” Feinstein and Harris said in a joint statement late Wednesday. “We made clear our opposition to these individuals and told the White House we wanted to work together to come to consensus on a new package of nominees.”
The White House announced the nomination of Collins and Lee, among other judicial designees. Daniel A. Bress was also nominated to the 9th Circuit.
Reshaping the judiciary will be Donald Trump’s longest lasting legacy.
And that court needs retooling more than the Ninth Circuit.
That’s the court liberals run to in order to stop any Trump executive actions.
Trump’s promise to only nominate conservative judges is what rallied Evangelical Christians to his campaign in 2016.
He must keep faith with that pledge in order to have a repeat of the GOP base turnout that propelled him to victory.
This is a significant defeat for Harris and a win for Trump.
They could very well face off in the 2020 General Election.
And right now the score is Trump 1, Harris 0.
