Nancy Pelosi and her allies in the swamp thought they had President Trump backed into a corner.
But once again they underestimated the President.
And Donald Trump had all hell breaking loose with this threat to Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Mitch McConnell were toasting inking a deal on a 2.3 trillion dollar giveaway that spread crumbs out for the American people in the form of $600 checks while bailing out their pet priorities like the Kennedy Center and gender studies programs in Pakistan.
After both houses of congress passed the legislation after leadership dropped it on member’s laps with no time to read the nearly 6,000 page bill Pelosi, Schumer, and McConnell thought their work was done.
Donald Trump had other ideas.
President Trump released a video from the White House slamming the boondoogle as a “disgrace” and calling on Congress to send him a suitable bill that included $2,000 in direct payments individual Americans and $4,000 to couples while removing wasteful foreign aid spending.
“I am asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2000, or $4000 for a couple,” the President declared.
“Congress found plenty of money for foreign countries and lobbyists and special interests, while sending the bare minimum to the American people who need it,” President Trump added.
Conservatives in Congress are now urging the President to “pocket veto” the bill – meaning the President doesn’t take any action on the legislation for ten days – and force the Congress to come back in January and pass new legislation that strips out the wasteful foreign spending and provides direct relief to the American people.
President Trump won the 2016 election by promising to drain the swamp and take care of the forgotten men and women.
Opposing this ridiculous $2.3 trillion big government giveaway is keeping with that pledge.
