Democrats are counting on Republican Senators betraying the President on impeachment.
Some pundits speculate up to 35 Republicans would defect and vote against the President on a secret vote.
But Donald Trump has this secret weapon to defeat Nancy Pelosi on impeachment.
Democrats need to flip at least three Republican-held Senate seats to install Chuck Schumer as Majority Leader.
Republican Senators in Maine, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina and Iowa are viewed as the most vulnerable — and therefore most likely — to flip on Trump.
However, what the so-called “experts” don’t understand is those Senators’ fates are tied to the President.
Nowhere is that more clear than in fundraising.
The President stepped in and provided massive fundraising boosts to North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis, Colorado Senator Cory Gardner and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst after they were outraised by their Democrat opponents.
All three also signed a resolution condemning the Democrats’ Stalinist impeachment witch hunt.
Maine Senator Susan Collins did not sign and therefore was cut off from the President’s fundraising juggernaut.
Trump is tapping his vast fundraising network for a handful of loyal senators facing tough reelection bids in 2020. Each of them has signed onto a Republican-backed resolution condemning the inquiry as “unprecedented and undemocratic.”
Conspicuously absent from the group is Maine Sen. Susan Collins, a politically vulnerable Republican who’s refused to support the resolution and avoided taking a stance on impeachment. With his new push, Trump is exerting leverage over a group he badly needs in his corner with an impeachment trial likely coming soon to the Senate — but that also needs him
. . .
On Wednesday, the Trump reelection campaign sent a fundraising appeal to its massive email list urging donors to provide a contribution that would be divided between the president and Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, and North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis. Each of the senators are supporting the anti-impeachment resolution despite being endangered in 2020.
“If we don’t post strong fundraising numbers,” the message warned, “we won’t be able to defend the President from this baseless Impeachment WITCH HUNT.”
The Fake News Media routinely fantasizes about Republicans abandoning the President on impeachment.
That would be suicide.
Not only would Republicans alienate the President’s voters, but his small-dollar donor army would cut off any turncoats from financial support leaving their campaigns dead in the water.
