Fox News Channel’s drift into becoming the never-Trump news network continues at a frightening pace.
Many daytime news hosts now openly parrot CNN and MSNBC talking points on the air.
But Donald Trump is going to hate what these Fox News hosts said about him behind closed doors.
Fox News promotes its “news hosts” like Martha MacCallum, Brett Baier, and Chris Wallace as the counterargument to the liberal media critique that Fox News is a pro-Trump house organ led by Sean Hannity and the rest of the primetime opinion hosts.
But MacCallum, Baier, and Wallace went even further at a closed-door panel for advertisers.
The three hosts made fun of Donald Trump and bragged about criticizing him.
The New York Times reports:
At a panel for advertisers in Manhattan last month, the network gathered Mr. Baier, Mr. Wallace and the news anchor Martha MacCallum to talk about covering the White House. The message: Trump doesn’t own us.
“Contrary to the opinion of some people, he’s not our boss,” Ms. MacCallum said, marveling at Mr. Trump’s criticism of Fox News for airing interviews with Democratic presidential candidates. “It is kind of shocking to hear that he really — that’s the way he thinks about how we should cover the election.”
Mr. Wallace joked about the president’s tendency to compare him unfavorably to his father, the “60 Minutes” legend Mike Wallace, who died in 2012. “He often likes to say about me, ‘You know, I was covered by Mike Wallace, I liked him much more,’” Mr. Wallace told the advertisers. “To which my reaction is always: One of us has a daddy problem, and it’s not me.”
This news will not comfort Donald Trump or his supporters.
It adds to the mountain of evidence that Fox News is moving Left in an effort to win praise from the liberal media.
