Joe Biden spent four years telling you Title IX existed to protect transgender students.
Now Trump's Department of Education is using that same law to protect girls.
Four Kansas school districts just found out they have 10 days to comply – or lose every dollar of federal funding.
Four Districts, One Choice: Comply or Lose the Money
The Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights dropped enforcement letters on Olathe Public Schools, Shawnee Mission School District, and Topeka Public Schools on June 11.
All three have 10 calendar days to come into compliance with Title IX or face referral to the Department of Justice and termination of federal funding.
Kansas City, Kansas Public School District got the fourth letter – a "Letter of Impasse" – signaling the department is already preparing enforcement action against them.
The violations are straightforward.
OCR determined in April 2026 that the districts had been allowing male students into female restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms.
Some of the districts also allowed males to compete on female sports teams based on claimed "gender identity."
The investigation started in August 2025 after the Defense of Freedom Institute filed complaints.
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach had separately written to Education Secretary Linda McMahon urging federal action against the districts.
These schools had months to fix this.
They didn't.

Here's what the left doesn't want you to notice.
For a decade, the Obama and Biden administrations used Title IX as a weapon.
Obama's OCR sent a 2011 "Dear Colleague" letter threatening to cut federal funding from any school that didn't adopt their preferred approach to sexual harassment enforcement.
The threat worked.
Schools changed policy nationwide because the money was real.
Biden's administration took it further – using Title IX to force schools to recognize gender identity as a protected class, requiring boys in girls' locker rooms as a condition of federal funding.
A federal court struck down Biden's 2024 Title IX rule as illegal.
Trump came in and did something simple.
He applied the law as written.
Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex – biological sex.

The Trump administration rescinded the illegal Biden-era resolution agreements in April 2026, freeing dozens of schools from the previous administration's distorted mandates.
Now OCR is doing the opposite of what Biden did – cutting off schools that put boys in girls' spaces instead of ones that keep them out.
The same lever. The opposite direction.
One Superintendent Refused to Apologize for Putting Boys in Girls Locker Rooms
Olathe tried to negotiate.
They submitted a voluntary resolution agreement on May 8 that explicitly defined sex as "a person's biological classification at birth as either male or female."
The Department of Education rejected it anyway.
Shawnee Mission Superintendent Michael Schumacher took a harder line.
His district called the entire federal process a "sham designed to reach a predetermined outcome."
Schumacher refused to sign the resolution agreement – in part because it would have required him to personally issue an apology letter to students for violating their privacy rights.
He wouldn't do it.
So now his district has 10 days to comply or lose its federal funding.
Topeka says the enforcement notice was "unexpected" given their "ongoing dialogue" with OCR since August 2025.
Ten months of dialogue.
Zero compliance.
Washington Has Stopped Waiting
Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey put it plainly: "These Kansas school districts' ongoing refusal to come into compliance with Title IX puts the safety, privacy, and dignity of young women and girls at risk."
This isn't the Trump administration being unreasonable.
This is the Trump administration being done waiting.
A 2025 survey found 66 percent of Americans support laws protecting girls' sports and spaces from biological males.
These districts have been defying both federal law and public opinion for nearly a year – banking on the idea that Washington would eventually blink.
Washington isn't blinking.
