Donald Trump’s been the dominant figure in GOP politics since bursting onto the scene in 2015.
But things may be changing.
And Donald Trump just lost a straw poll vote to this Republican Governor.
Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is one of the most popular GOP elected officials in America.
DeSantis built his political following by largely keeping Florida open during the pandemic and eschewing mask mandates.
The corporate media’s repeated attempted takedowns of DeSantis as well as DeSantis fighting back against the media’s smear campaigns has brightened DeSantis’ star in the Republican Party.
2024 Presidential primary polls show that Republicans list DeSantis as one of the top choices to be the nominee if Donald Trump doesn’t run for President.
Those polls also show that should Trump decide to run for President he would be the overwhelming favorite.
But, in a first, Ron DeSantis actually topped Donald Trump in an approval poll among the attendees of the 2021 Western Conservative Summit.
Western Conservative Summit 2021 non-partisan approval voting poll results:
1. Ron DeSantis – 74.12%
2. Donald Trump – 71.43%
3. Ted Cruz – 42.86%
4. Mike Pompeo – 39.35%
5. Tim Scott 35.58%
30 candidates polled. Democrats & Republicans.

If Donald Trump decides to run for President in 2024 it is very doubtful that Ron DeSantis would run for President.
But if Trump does not run for president and Ron DeSantis takes the plunge, this poll is another data point that suggests Ron DeSantis would enter the race as the frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
