No issue vaulted Donald Trump to the Presidency in 2016 more than immigration.
It was the signature issue of his Presidency.
And now Donald Trump traveled to the border and told one truth about this crisis.
Donald Trump traveled to Alamo, Texas to celebrate the fact that his administration constructed 450 miles of border wall.
The wall was President Trump’s campaign centerpiece in 2016 and the President wanted the American people to know he fulfilled his promise.
“We took on the cartels, the coyotes, and the special interests, and we restored the rule of law,” the President declared.
President Trump compared his record on border security to those of his predecessors that failed to deliver for the American people.
For years, politicians ran for office promising to secure the border, only to get elected and to do the absolute exact opposite. […] They promised a wall but they couldn’t get it built . . .
. . . But unlike those who came before me, I kept my promises. And today we celebrate an extraordinary milestone: the completion of the promised 450 miles of border wall. Four hundred and fifty miles.
But building the wall was not the only way President Trump delivered on his promises to secure the border.
President Trump ended the practice of “catch and release” by requiring asylum seekers to remain in Mexico while their cases were adjudicated.
The President also negotiated deals with several Central American countries to stop illegal aliens from seeking asylum in the United States if they first did not try to gain asylum in a country they had crossed through to get here.
President Trump keeping his promises is one reason that Donald Trump’s base refuses to budge and ditch the President despite four years of lies, conspiracy theories, smear campaigns, Deep State coup attempts, and now two sham impeachments.
