Democrats were counting on Donald Trump as a failure to be central piece of their 2020 campaign message.
The success of that scheme depended on the courts.
And now Donald Trump was grinning from ear to ear after this massive Supreme Court win.
Last year the President instituted policies to keep illegal aliens from storming across the border.
One of those measures was the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which effectively ended “catch and release” by forcing illegal aliens to wait in Mexico for their asylum hearing process to play out.
Rogue “judges” on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the policy and threatened to allow 60,000 illegal aliens to flood across the border at a moment’s notice.
But the Ninth Circuit allowed the policy to stand to give the administration time to appeal to the Supreme Court.
That decision paid off when the Supreme Court lifted lower court’s stay.
Fox News reported, “The application for stay presented to Justice Kagan and by her referred to the Court is granted, and the district court’s April 8, 2019 order granting a preliminary injunction is stayed pending the timely filing and disposition of a petition for a writ of certiorari,” the Supreme Court said in an order, which noted that Justice Sonia Sotomayor opposed the Trump administration’s stay application.”
The win was just temporary – however – as the Supreme Court only lifted the stay while the administration appeals the Ninth Circuit Court’s ruling.
Fox News also reported, “The Supreme Court’s order noted that the stay only applies while the administration files a petition for the Supreme Court to review the Ninth Circuit’s decision. Should the court decline, the stay will be lifted and the policy will go back to being blocked. Should the court decide to hear the case, the stay will remain in effect until the court hands down a decision.”
That – however – should not be taken as a sign that the Supreme Court will ultimately rule against the administration. In fact, the Trump administration owns a lopsided number of wins over open borders activists at the Supreme Court.
