The Supreme Court just handed down a major decision.
Democrats were cheering.
And Donald Trump will be red with rage when he sees how the Supreme Court just betrayed him.
The Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Donald Trump to shield four pages of documents from the January 6 Select Committee.
Trump claimed executive privilege to stop Nancy Pelosi’s handpicked committee from getting their hands on his private Presidential records.
The Supreme Court disagreed, with Trump’s three Supreme Court Justices even ruling in the Democrats’ favor.
In the opinion, the Justices questioned if a former President could assert executive privilege.
“The questions whether and in what circumstances a former President may obtain a court order preventing disclosure of privileged records from his tenure in office, in the face of a determination by the incumbent President to waive the privilege, are unprecedented and raise serious and substantial concerns,” the opinion read.
The unsigned opinion outrageously fell back on a Court of Appeals rule claiming that since a sitting President did not have the privilege to shield documents from the Committee, Trump had no right to claim executive privilege as a former President.
“Because the Court of Appeals concluded that President Trump’s claims would have failed even if he were the incumbent, his status as a former President necessarily made no difference to the court’s decision,” the Justices continued.
The Supreme Court’s ruling granted the January 6 Committee access to “draft text of a Presidential speech for the January 6, 2021, Save America March; a handwritten list of potential or scheduled briefings and telephone calls concerning election issues; and a draft Executive Order concerning election integrity . . . a draft proclamation honoring deceased Capitol Police officers Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood, and associated e-mails from the Office of the Executive Clerk, which relate to the Select Committee’s interest in the White House’s response to the Capitol attack.”
The January 6 Committee is essentially the Democrats’ third attempt to impeach Donald Trump.
Trump is expected to run for President again in 2024.
Polls show Joe Biden or Kamala Harris would likely lose that race.
That’s why Democrats are counting on the January 6 Committee to accuse Trump of a crime that Joe Biden’s Justice Department can prosecute him for.
