The walls are closing in on Dr. Fauci.

The stress is showing.

Now Dr. Fauci is pressing the panic button over this attempt to put him behind bars.

Republicans like Texas Senator Ted Cruz believe the Justice Department should prosecute Dr. Fauci over lying to Congress about funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Over the weekend, CNN’s Jim Acosta confronted Dr. Fauci with Cruz’s accusations that the Biden administration is refusing to prosecute Dr. Fauci for political reasons.

Fauci exploded, ranting and raving that Republicans who want to jail him for lying to Congress are mentally ill.

“Well, I mean, there’s no response to that craziness, Jim,” Dr. Fauci exclaimed. “I mean, prosecute me for what? What, what are they talking about? I mean, I wish I could figure out what the heck they were talking about.”

“I think they’re just going off the deep end. That’s the answer to your first question,” Dr. Fauci continued. “It doesn’t make any sense to say something like that, and it actually is irresponsible.”

As it becomes more obvious the coronavirus escaped out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology there is a renewed focus on the $600,000 grant the National Institute of Health funneled to the Wuhan lab through EcoHealth Alliance to study gain-of-function research.

The question now is if Dr. Fauci used taxpayer money to fund the research that started the pandemic.

Dr. Fauci testified under oath and penalty of perjury that the research in Wuhan was not gain-of-function.

Experts such as Rutgers Molecular Biology Professor Dr. Richard Ebright disagree.

Dr. Ebright even called Dr. Fauci’s testimony “untruthful.”

“The documents make it clear that assertions by the NIH director, Francis Collins, and the NIAID director, Anthony Fauci, that the NIH did not support gain-of-function research or potential pandemic pathogen enhancement in Wuhan are untruthful,” Dr. Ebright declared.

A growing number of Americans believes there needs to be accountability for the COVID pandemic.

But Republicans believe holding those responsible extends beyond Communist China for unleashing the coronavirus on the world.

And that means prosecuting Dr. Fauci for allegedly lying to Congress about not funding gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
