Americans are watching the news daily and are concerned about the growing number of coronavirus deaths.
The public is worried about when life can begin to return to normal.
And that’s Dr. Fauci spoke one fact about the coronavirus death toll that stunned Americans into silence.
The White House coronavirus taskforce held a briefing on a day when nearly 2,000 Americans succumbed to the virus.
America is reaching the peak of the epidemic curve which means there will be staggering death tolls.
But the number of deaths is far below the predicted 240,000 in the models the coronavirus taskforce used to justify continuing the lockdown.
In the press briefing Dr. Fauci addressed this fact by admitting the models were all just hocus pocus that were based on assumptions – which in many cases turned out to be faulty.
“That’s a sign when you take the data you have and you reinsert it into the model, the model modifies,” Dr. Fauci confessed. “Data is real. The model is hypothesis.”
But Dr. Fauci also told Americans that despite the increasing death tolls, America was turning the corner on the pandemic.
“It is in the sense of deaths a bad week,” Dr. Fauci admitted. However, the Doctor also reassured Americans by telling them, “At the same time, as we’re seeing an increase in deaths, we’re seeing a rather dramatic decrease in the need for hospitalizations.”
But Dr. Fauci controversially claimed this was because the lockdowns were working, not because the model’s doomsday scenarios were wildly off base.
“That means that what we are doing is working, and therefore it means we need to continue to do it,” he said.
The outbreak stabilizing across the country will increase calls from Americans to end the lockdowns on go back to work.
How the President and his team navigates this challenge will decide their political fate.
