Dr. Anthony Fauci began the coronavirus outbreak with much goodwill among the American people.
But Fauci’s pleas to keep the lockdowns going for indefinite periods of time squandered all those positive feelings.
And now Dr. Fauci went before Congress and what he said left Donald Trump seeing red.
Dr. Fauci’s main expertise is in moving the goal posts.
Whenever America gets close to reopening the economy, Dr. Fauci steps up to deliver doom and gloom predictions that scare Governors and the American people into staying in lockdown.
Nearly 40 states are in some form of reopening.
33 million Americans lost their jobs and unemployment is spiking to levels not seen since the Great Depression.
Despite this economic calamity, Dr. Fauci testified to Congress on Tuesday that reopening the country “too quickly” would lead to more “needless suffering and death.”
“The major message that I wish to convey to the Senate HLP committee tomorrow is the danger of trying to open the country prematurely,” Dr. Fauci testified. “If we skip over the checkpoints in the guidelines to ‘Open America Again,’ then we risk the danger of multiple outbreaks throughout the country. This will not only result in needless suffering and death, but would actually set us back on our quest to return to normal.”
The flipside of that argument is the longer businesses stay closed and the government-mandated lockdowns continue the harder it will be for the economy to restart.
Deaths by suicide and drug overdoses also spike during a recession.
Keeping the economy shuttered will also lead to needless suffering and death.
That’s a reality Dr. Fauci ignores he promotes his pro-infinite lockdown propaganda.
