Democrats spent years telling you they just wanted unity.
Now their Michigan Senate candidate is standing in a Detroit church and demanding America pay what he calls "unpaid debts" to black communities.
But El-Sayed got asked one question on live TV – and his answer gave Michigan Republicans everything they need.
El-Sayed Said the Quiet Part Out Loud
El-Sayed made the remarks Saturday at a meeting of women faith leaders in Detroit – the kind of friendly room where socialist Democrats tend to say exactly what they mean.
"When it comes to black communities in Michigan – when it comes to black communities in America – there are unpaid debts that have long since come due that we are unwilling to acknowledge, let alone pay down," El-Sayed said.

He added that he wants leaders who will "understand those debts and address them."
That's reparations – on the record, in his own voice, at a public event streamed on C-SPAN.
This wasn't a slip.
It wasn't his first time.
Jesse Watters put it directly to El-Sayed last month: "Reparations – do you support that?"
El-Sayed replied, "I think we need to have an honest conversation about the incredible debt that was put upon black folks as a function of slavery that we have yet to pay, and I just think that's fair."
Watters told him flatly: "We have you on the record as backing it."
This Man Wants a Michigan Senate Seat
El-Sayed is not some fringe figure shouting from a street corner.
He is the Democrat nominee for the United States Senate in Michigan – a battleground state that Donald Trump carried in 2024.
He supports Medicare for All.
He supports abolishing ICE.
He campaigned alongside Hasan Piker – the far-left streamer who said America "deserved" 9/11 and called on people to "motherf**k the U.S. Constitution."
When reporters pressed El-Sayed about Piker, he refused to cut ties, saying "just because you appear with somebody doesn't mean you agree with them on everything."
Mike Rogers – the Republican nominee and former Congressman – called it correctly: "He can't distance himself from Hasan Piker at all. He is clearly his running mate in this."
The Daily Wire also reported that El-Sayed's father-in-law is among the top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood – an organization the Trump Administration has moved to designate as a terrorist group.
And El-Sayed once deleted a Thanksgiving post calling for reparations for Native Americans, in which he wrote that this country "was built on the systematic annihilation of Indigenous Peoples."
He deleted it.
He didn't change his mind about it – he just didn't want you to see it.
Here Is What He Is Actually Proposing
El-Sayed wants to use the power of a Senate seat to push reparations with a $40 trillion national debt sitting on the books.
Stephen A. Smith – a black Democrat who is decidedly not conservative – pushed back hard when El-Sayed appeared on his show and floated the idea anyway.
El-Sayed's answer was to keep pushing.
He told reporters he wants to expand "revolving loan funds in local communities" and "generational wealth" transfers – policies that draw on the same logic as reparations regardless of what label he puts on them.
The race is close – polling averages show El-Sayed holding a razor-thin lead of roughly two points over Rogers among likely Michigan voters.
Among voters 50 and older – the people most likely to remember what happened to this country last time Democrats controlled Congress – Rogers leads by nine points.
That gap tells you everything.
Reparations Plus Abolish ICE Plus Hasan Piker Is the Whole Package
Here is what El-Sayed is telling Michigan voters: the United States owes reparations, ICE should be abolished, and the man who said America deserved the September 11 attacks was a legitimate campaign surrogate right up until it became a political liability.

Voters don't get to pick parts of it.
Rogers built his career fighting genuine threats to American security.
El-Sayed built his career arguing that American institutions are irredeemably racist and that the only solution is making people who had nothing to do with slavery write a check.
But he has never stood in a Detroit church and told an audience that America owes them money.
That distinction matters on November 3rd.
