Elizabeth Warren has dug in on the nomination of Justice Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
She just made a major announcement about her position on his confirmation.
And it’s set her up for a massive defeat.
The Democrats left-wing base is demanding full resistance to Donald Trump.
They are furious that Republicans upheld the Biden rule and blocked the nomination of Merrick Garland because it was done in an election year.
The gamble paid off and the GOP won the election.
Donald Trump fulfilled his promise to nominate conservative Justices with his selection of Gorsuch.
Democrats are lighting their hair on fire and demanding a full-scale resistance to his nomination by filibustering his confirmation.
Warren announced she supports the effort to filibuster Gorsuch.
“We need to have a judge who’s kind of acceptable to both sides,” Warren said on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition Friday. “That’s the reason there’s a 60-vote rule in effect on Supreme Court nominees.”
“I don’t think Neil Gorsuch meets that standard,” Warren said. “Here’s someone — read his record.”
“In every opportunity to choose between corporate interests, big corporations and the little guy — employees, women, consumers — he always chooses the big corporations,” Warren said. “And I think that puts him way outside the mainstream of what we need.”
“So that means you — just to be clear — you would support a filibuster?” Host Rachel Martin asked Warren.
“Oh, absolutely,” Warren said.”
Democrats are counting on holding their caucus together.
Republicans control 52 seats.
They would need eight Democrats to break ranks to end their filibuster.
But Republicans also have another option.
They could change the Senate rules on a majority vote to require just 51 votes to confirm a Supreme Court Justice.
Harry Reid and the Democrats changed the Senate rules in 2013 to eliminate the filibuster for every nomination except the Supreme Court.
Now they are about to be on the other end of the nuclear option.
And Elizabeth Warren has announced she will be the leader of this doomed strategy.
Since the Democrats passed policies to disallow filibusters while they were in the majority, how can they now be allowed to hold a filibuster??? They are breaking their own policies and laws and the LAME Republicans are letting it happen. We need term limits folks to get ALL these dinosaur politicians OUT OF OFFICE!!! The Democrats always make up the rules as they go along to fit their needs and those stupid Republicans just bow down and say, “yes sir, no sir”. What good are they being in the majority if they don’t stand up and do their job? They MUST STOP the Democrats from doing this filibuster at any means!
There is nothing that comes from Pocahantis, Ole Wackadoodle aka Pelosi or Finestein that surprises me. In short, they have all lived by the sword and I will watch with glee as they turn above the flames on that same sword.
I cant think of many women that I just cant stand besides Clinton, Pelosi and warren. There are others and they all happen to be liberals. I stopped calling them democrats a long time ago. I think they are in for a big surprise. If McConnell will get off his duff and initiate the nuclear option.
Warren is the epitome of the women’s ruination of this country that they orchestrated by putting that idiot in office for 8 years. Most dems are women. Most women are dems. They NEVER vote for the good of the country – but only for their self-serving fulfillment – thus obuma to lead the destruction.
Not arguing, just reinforcing the “most” here, which leaves room for the rest of us: Just gotta say, that I, my sister, 2 daughters, niece, daughters-in-law are all proudly conservatives/Republicans, as are our friends. Go, Trump, MAGA!!! 🙂
