Exit polls in this tossup state could spell doom for Chuck Schumer

Never-Trumper Jeff Flake’s retirement opened up Arizona’s Senate seat.

This has been one of the tightest races in the country and a must-win for Democrats.

But this exit poll was devastating news for Chuck Schumer.

Polls in Arizona leading up to election day showed Democrat Kyrsten Sinema trailing Republican Martha McSally by only one percent.

But Sinema’s comments calling her own constituents “crazy” could cost her.

FiveThirtyEight reports:

Early exit polls (with caveats, of course) in Arizona don’t look so good for Democrat Kyrsten Sinema who is running against Republican Martha McSally for the Senate seat. By a margin of 53 to 42 percent, Arizona voters say they’d like Republicans to control the Senate.

Trump, who won the state by 4 points in 2016, has a 52 percent approval rating and 47 percent disapproval rating.

Results are still pouring in from across the country.
