Hillary Clinton is not known for her honesty.
During the Presidential campaign, polls showed “liar” was one of the top words voters associated with her.
Clinton shocked everyone by telling the one truth that Democrats don’t want to hear.
Clinton claimed that being a “capitalist” hurt her in the Democrat primary.
The Daily Beast reports:
“Hillary Clinton claimed Wednesday that declaring herself to be a “capitalist” during the 2016 presidential primaries may have hurt her with Democratic voters.
“Probably,” she said when asked by Time Inc. Brands CCO Alan Murray if the declaration hurt her. The pair appeared in conversation as part of the Shared Value Leadership Summit in New York City.
“It’s hard to know but I mean if you’re in the Iowa caucuses and 41 percent of Democrats are socialists or self-described socialists, and I’m asked ‘Are you a capitalist?’ and I say, ‘Yes, but with appropriate regulation and appropriate accountability.’ You know, that probably gets lost in the ‘Oh my gosh, she’s a capitalist!’” Clinton concluded, partly referring to the popularity of her primary rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who ran as a self-declared democratic socialist.”
Clinton claiming to be a capitalist was an odd choice of words considering her first foray into politics as First Lady was pushing a complete government takeover of healthcare and in 2016 she ran on essentially a socialist platform.
But it still exposes a central truth that could be the Democrat Party’s undoing.
Their base consists of socialists.
The American Culture and Faith Institute found that a majority of those who identify as liberals prefer socialism to capitalism.
National Review reports:
“But those differences don’t reveal the greatest divide and danger to America’s future. “The most alarming result, according to [George] Barna, was that four out of every ten adults say they prefer socialism to capitalism,” the ACFI noted in its commentary on the poll. “That is a large minority,” Barna said, “and it includes a majority of the liberals — who will be pushing for a completely different economic model to dominate our nation. That is the stuff of civil wars. It ought to set off alarm bells among more traditionally-oriented leaders across the nation.’” That 40 percent of Americans now prefer socialism to capitalism could spell major change to the policies advanced by legislators and political leaders and to the interpretations of judges ruling on the application of new and pre-existing laws.”
This is bad news for the Democrats.
Americans don’t want to see capitalism overthrown and replaced with the economic system that plunged countries like Venezuela into the abyss.
If Democrats run on a platform of unabashed socialism they are doomed.
