Iceland Stripped a Father of His Son for Asking One Question About Puberty Blockers

Elon Musk watched his own son get taken from him by an ideology – and couldn’t stop it.

Now a father in Iceland just lost custody of his 11-year-old autistic boy for doing the exact same thing Musk wishes he had done.

He asked whether the drugs were safe – and a court permanently sterilized his boy for it.

How a Father Lost Custody for Questioning Puberty Blockers

Alexandre Rocha is a French national who has spent 25 years in Iceland raising his son.

When his boy – diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder just eight months before the trial – began showing signs of gender confusion, Rocha asked doctors the only question any responsible father would ask.

What are the long-term effects of puberty blockers and hormone therapy on an autistic child?

An Icelandic endocrinologist took the stand and dismissed him under oath.

No problem, she said. No need to examine the underlying mental health factors.

The court agreed with her.

In December 2025, the District Court of Reykjavik stripped Rocha of custody and handed sole parental authority to the child’s mother – the parent willing to approve the medical interventions.

His son’s birth name is already gone.

In February, the mother formally changed the boy’s name to a female name on his official identity documents.

Rocha hasn’t seen his son since January.

“It could very well be that he is being treated with hormones and I don’t know anything about it,” he told Fox News.

Parents Losing Custody Over Puberty Blockers Is Now a Pattern Across Europe

Iceland is not an outlier.

In Switzerland in 2023, authorities removed a teenage girl from her home after her parents declined puberty blockers and refused to let the school socially transition her without their consent.

That girl spent over a year in a government youth home while her parents fought in court to get her back.

In Portugal, activist networks embedded in schools have been quietly transitioning children under government guidelines – with parents kept in the dark until it’s too late.

Push back, and you risk losing your kids.

Sweden was once celebrated as the gold standard for this model.

Sweden has now reversed course.

In 2022, Swedish health authorities tightened guidelines for prescribing puberty blockers to minors – in part because researchers found it clinically difficult to separate autism spectrum disorder from gender dysphoria in evaluations.

The overlap is significant and well-documented.

Children on the autism spectrum are far more likely to report gender incongruence – not because they are transgender, but because autism affects how a child relates to their own body, identity, and social categories.

Rocha knew this about his own son.

He told the court his boy sometimes prefers to be a cat, wearing a tail and cat ears.

He told them his son’s entire worldview is shaped by Minecraft and Roblox – that a child who is still sorting out fantasy from reality cannot comprehend the permanent consequences of hormonal intervention.

The court passed over the autism diagnosis.

The ideology required it.

What Elon Musk Knows That These Courts Refuse to Acknowledge

Rocha’s story reached Elon Musk on X.

Musk responded: “The woke mind virus even affects Iceland.”

He knows this story from the inside.

Musk has said publicly he was “essentially tricked” into consenting to puberty blockers for his son Xavier – now Vivian Jenna Wilson – before he understood what he was agreeing to.

Rocha asked the questions Musk didn’t get to ask – and a court punished him for it.

“I think we have a common fight,” Rocha said. “Because at the end of the day, we’re all parents, no matter the borders or nationalities.”

The systematic reviews are in.

Researchers now classify the evidence base for puberty blockers as very low certainty.

England closed the Tavistock gender clinic after its own review found children were being rushed into irreversible interventions without adequate psychological evaluation.

The British High Court ruled in 2020 that it is “highly unlikely” a child under 13 can meaningfully consent to puberty blockers at all.

None of that stopped an Icelandic court from handing an autistic 11-year-old to the parent who will approve the drugs – and cutting out the father who dared to ask whether they were safe.

“It is to control parents,” Rocha said. “It is to silence me. It is to give all power to this ideology.”

He is raising money to appeal.

He wants back a son he hasn’t seen in months – a boy who once cooked dinner with him and watched Jurassic Park on the couch.

The ideology doesn’t care about any of that.

And here is what every American parent needs to understand right now.

The states that passed “trans sanctuary” laws – Minnesota, California, Washington – wrote the same legal logic Iceland just used into American statute.

If you live in one of those states and you ask the same question Alexandre Rocha asked, a family court judge can use your refusal to affirm as evidence that you are harming your child.

They don’t need to prove you did anything wrong.

They just need a doctor willing to take the stand and say the drugs are safe.

Iceland had one.

These states have hundreds.
