Ilhan Omar drew up articles of impeachment and these two Republicans hinted the GOP would join in

Democrats and Never-Trump Republicans smelled their opportunity.

The chaos at the Capitol led for fresh calls for Congress to impeach Donald Trump.

And now Ilhan Omar drew up articles of impeachment and these two Republicans hinted the GOP would join in.

After protesters broke into the Capitol and forced lawmakers to evacuate, Ilhan Omar posted on social media that she was drawing up articles of impeachment for supposedly inciting the riot.

“I am drawing up Articles of Impeachment. Donald J. Trump should be impeached by the House of Representatives & removed from office by the United States Senate. We can’t allow him to remain in office, it’s a matter of preserving our Republic and we need to fulfill our oath,” Omar wrote.

Two top Republicans echoed her language, falsely claiming President Trump was responsible for the riot and dropped hints that GOP leadership may support removing Trump from office with just two weeks left in his term.

Hose GOP Conference Chair and RINO Congresswoman Liz Cheney blasted President Trump for “inciting” the mob.

“There is no question that the President formed the mob, the President incited the mob, the President addressed the mob. He lit the flame,” Cheney stated.

Former Mitch McConnell aide Scott Jennings went on CNN and doubled down on Cheney’s anti-Trump rhetoric.

“Donald Trump caused this insurrection with lies and conspiracy theories about the election being rigged against him,” Jennings stated. “The election was not stolen but this madness was fomented by the President and his top advisers.”

Cheney is one of the top members of the GOP establishment and Jennings often speaks for what Mitch McConnell really thinks.

If Cheney and McConnell truly believe Donald Trump incited a riot, then they very well could seize on articles of impeachment as their chance to not only get rid of Donald Trump, but exile him from Republican Party politics so the GOP can move back to the days of Mitt Romney-style RINOs.

The facts and truth did not matter to Cheney and Jennings, as in his speech to supporters President Trump expressly asked them to engage in peaceful protest and work through the political channels available such as primary challenges to Representatives who supported certifying the results.
