Comer said that his Committee’s investigation is going to “trace the money” that flowed into the Penn Biden Center and into Hunter Biden’s art sales.
After he lost his income from foreign business deals, Hunter decided to become an artist to help make ends meet.
Despite being 52-years old and having no formal training, his paintings have been selling well above what a first-time artist could expect to command, with some pieces going for half a million dollars.
Hunter’s art dealer, Georges Bergès, bragged about his desire to become the biggest art dealer in communist China.
Hunter’s newfound career as an artist is raising questions about whether foreign buyers are overpaying to gain influence with the Biden family.
Comer is sending requests for information to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the Biden regime, the University of Pennsylvania, and others about money that flowed to the Biden family.
The Republican lawmaker said that more requests were going out and that he was willing to subpoena any information not handed over to the Committee.
“We’re trying to trace the money,” Comer told the Washington Examiner. “We’ll be looking at bank statements. We’ll be looking at bank violations.”
Treasury Secretary Yellen has been ducking his requests for bank transactions with foreign countries made by the Biden family that were flagged as suspicious under federal money laundering laws.
“That’s the next phase of our investigation because we’re trying to figure out who these anonymous sources are that are sending so much money to the Biden family schemes — the Biden Center for Diplomacy and Hunter Biden’s artwork,” Comer added.
The University of Pennsylvania, which helped found the Penn Biden Center, raked in over $60 million from Chinese sources while the school was paying Joe Biden as guest professor who didn’t teach any classes.
The President’s classified documents scandal underscores the need to investigate the Biden family’s finances.
“If there’s nothing there, then the President should be more than willing to cooperate with House Republicans because he could make us look bad,” Comer said.
