James Comey just found out he could end up behind bars

President Trump and his supporters have been arguing for months that former FBI Director James Comey should be the one under investigation.

Now they may get their wish.

The Department of Justice Inspector General just announced that James Comey may one day end up behind bars for this one thing.

Inspector General Michael Horowitz testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and revealed that former FBI Director James Comey was under investigation for mishandling classified information.

The Daily Caller reports:

“Comey said he did not expect a report on his handling of classified information because, ‘That’s frivolous.’ I don’t happen to think that it is frivolous,” Sen. Chuck Grassley said during a Senate hearing Monday.

“Question number one, Mr. Horowitz, are you investigating the handling of his memo and does that include the classification issues, and should Mr. Comey expect a report when it’s complete?” Grassley asked.

“We received a referral on that from the FBI. We are handling that referral and we will issue a report when the matter is complete, consistent with the law and rules that are — a report that’s consistent and takes those into account,” Horowitz responded.

President Trump – as well as other Republicans – has long argued that when Comey leaked his memos to law professor Daniel Richman that he violated the law because there was classified information contained in them.

But until now, Comey escaped scrutiny for his actions.

That is changing.

Inspector General Horowitz’s investigation led to the firing of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe as well as five other FBI officials resigning or being reassigned.

His work has helped drain the swamp.

And if there is any chance Comey can be held accountable for his crimes, it rests with Horowitz.
