House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes is the Deep State’s worst nightmare.
Nunes has been uncovering documents that unraveled the conspiracy against Donald Trump.
And Comey had no idea how to respond when he was asked this question about Nunes.
Comey appeared for a softball interview with Benjamin Wittes of the left-wing Brookings Institute.
Wittes is a well known friend of Comey’s who was known for tormenting the President of the United States on social media by previewing news stories that featured him as a leaker.
But he caught Comey flat-footed when he compared Nunes’ quest for documents to Edward Snowden revealing Barack Obama’s illegal spying program.
The Daily Caller reports:
“[Nunes] is affirmatively acting in a fashion that some of us judged Edward Snowden very harshly for, right, for behaving in a fashion that puts at risk intelligence sources and methods…when being told by senior levels of the Justice Department,” said Wittes, who operates Lawfare, a blog Brookings hosts.
“I can’t understand it,” said Comey, who appeared to grimace at the mention of Nunes’ name. “I’m sure there is some story he tells himself that tries to make sense of it all, but I can’t explain it.”
It’s clear that Wittes and Comey both regard Snowden – whom millions of Americans view as a patriot – as a traitor.
Wittes and Comey are spy state apologists who deep down know the policies they support are illegal and wrong.
That’s why they lash out at Snowden and Nunes for exposing their Deep State operations.
The current standoff Nunes is engaged in revolves around documents the DOJ claims would compromise a source.
But if this was true, the DOJ would not have leaked hints as to the sources identity, namely that it is an American citizen who has provided information to the Mueller probe.
This leads critics to believe what the FBI is really covering up is the fact that the Bureau planted a mole in the Trump campaign to spy on them.
