Joe Biden accidentally sabotaged his electric vehicle agenda with this colossal blunder

Joe Biden can’t help but keep stepping on rakes during his Presidency.

Now he’s put one of his signature initiatives in grave danger with a misstep.

And Joe Biden accidentally sabotaged his electric vehicle agenda with this colossal blunder.

Joe Biden’s electric vehicle agenda hinges on chargers

President Joe Biden is moving at breakneck speed to transition the automotive industry to electric vehicles.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks to that transition is the lack of public charging stations for them.

That’s why the Biden administration tucked away $7.5 billion in the bloated 2021 infrastructure bill to build charging stations.

Biden’s goal is to build a national network of 500,000 new charging stations by 2030.

Seven charging stations nationally after more than two years and billions of dollars.

It’s become a big enough debacle that even the Biden-friendly media is calling out the administration over it.

Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg – whose department is in charge of doling out the money – was grilled about it during a May appearance on CBS’ Face the Nation by host Margaret Brennan.

“The Federal Highway Administration says only seven or eight charging stations have been produced with the $7.5 billion investment that taxpayers made back in 2021,” Brennan said. “Why isn’t that happening more quickly?”

“Now, in order to do a charger, it’s more than just plunking a- a small device into the ground, there’s utility work, and this is also, really, a new category of federal investment,” Buttigieg responded.

The requirements the Biden administration put on building charging stations are keeping the project from getting off the ground.

Woke diversity requirements are undermining the construction of public charging stations

Biden has made promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the federal government one of the top priorities for his administration.

The Washington Free Beacon uncovered internal memos from the Transportation Department that DEI is grinding the public charging station construction to a halt.

Charging stations from the infrastructure money are being built by handing out grant money.

“These requirements are screwing everything up,” an anonymous Transportation Department staffer told the Beacon. “It’s all a mess.”

Biden issued an executive order after entering the White House that required 40% of environmental projects should go toward “underserved communities.”

A White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council was established by the order to oversee government projects to ensure that “voices, perspectives, and lived realities of communities with environmental justice concerns are heard in the White House and reflected in federal policies, investments, and decisions.”

Applying for a federal grant requires that potential recipients “demonstrate how meaningful public involvement, inclusive of disadvantaged communities, will occur throughout a project’s life cycle.”

Public outreach could be “games and contests,” “visual preference surveys,” or “neighborhood block parties” according to the Transportation Department.

Hundreds of pages of documents are needed to demonstrate equity to apply for the grants.

“These onerous diversity, equity, and inclusion requirements handcuff professionals from making proper evaluations and prevent the government/public from funding the most deserving projects, instead funneling money towards less qualified applicants,” the Transportation Department staffer said.

The staffer wondered whether the purpose was really about the environment.

“At a certain point you have to ask, is the point of these programs to reduce emissions or is the point to spread taxpayer money around and support groups that vote for the Democratic Party?” the staffer wondered.

Joe Biden’s electric vehicle plans are being undone by wokeness.
