Joe Biden’s handlers keep him away from the press as much as possible.
There is a reason for that.
And Joe Biden had all hell breaking loose when he made this major mistake on national television.
Joe Biden’s handlers allowed Biden to sit for a rare interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos where Biden expressed support for gutting the filibuster by making it a “talking filibuster”.
“Yes, but here’s the choice: I don’t think that you have to eliminate the filibuster, you have to do it what it used to be when I first got to the Senate back in the old days,” Biden said. “You had to stand up and command the floor, you had to keep talking . . . That’s what it was supposed to be.”
But Biden was wrong on both counts.
Punch Bowl News’ John Bresnahan pointed out that a talking filibuster would allow Republicans to jam up the floor for days and weeks at a time and would not speed up passage of his agenda.
How does a “talking filibuster” help anything? Depending on how it’s structured – the critical question, as with anything Senate-related – a small group of senators could talk for days or even weeks. How does that get reformers any closer? It doesn’t

Bresnahan also noted that Biden falsely claimed when he entered the Senate in 1973 a talking filibuster was required.
Biden forgot that was not the case as the rule was changed in 1972.
This will not satisfy Democrats and it will only inflame their intra-party war.
Democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez want to completely eliminate the filibuster.
The Left believes if they can eliminate the filibuster they can guarantee permanent power in Washington, D.C. by creating millions of new voters with amnesty for illegal aliens, mandating nationwide universal mail-in voting, and adding Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico as states.
Joe Biden is dipping his toe in those waters by making his first step towards gutting the filibuster.
