Globalist agencies such as the International Energy Agency (IEA) are demanding that governments take away a wide range of freedoms to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
President Joe Biden declared that the threat of climate change is the biggest issue facing humanity.
Now, the Biden regime is taking a cue from the IEA and proposing the first steps to what could eventually turn into climate lockdowns.
Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Transportation, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Housing released a plan to “eliminate nearly all greenhouse gas emissions” from transportation by forcing drivers to transition to impractical electric vehicles.
Hidden away in the plan is a controversial measure to control the American people by reducing the number of “commuting miles” workers and students are allowed to travel.
The Biden regime is demanding that Americans reduce their travel through “an increase in remote work and virtual engagements.”
“Telework and other components of a digital economy … can improve convenience by reducing travel demand, especially for work commuting,” the plan stated. “The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted major opportunities for telework, with some studies showing the possibility of 10 percent long-term reduction in annual vehicle miles traveled.”
The pandemic gave Biden a blueprint to try and fight climate change with the same totalitarian tactics he used for COVID.
“The pandemic has shown that rapid change can occur in both total transportation demand and how that demand is met,” the plan explained.
The disturbing plan also says “remote access to services like healthcare and education” will be one “key determinant of future travel demand.”
After more than 100,000 small businesses closed during the pandemic, Biden’s plan is taking fire from small business groups.
Job Creators Network President Alfredo Ortiz said that the plan would be a disaster of epic proportions for small businesses that are the backbone of the economy.
“Once again, the Biden administration is blindly pursuing a ‘green’ agenda despite the unintended consequences it poses to the economy and, more specifically, small businesses,” Ortiz told the Washington Free Beacon. “Small businesses struggled to survive the pandemic and we don’t need to return to a similar environment in which in-person consumer demand is severely compromised.”
Even top Democrats are coming around to the idea that forcing people to work from home would be a disaster.
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser asked the Biden regime to take “decisive action” to get federal employees back to in-person work.
