The final Presidential debate was both candidates’ last chance to make an impression on the American people.
It did not go well for Joe Biden.
And Joe Biden made this giant mistake at the debate that every Democrat wishes he could take back.
During the second Presidential debate, Donald Trump challenged Joe Biden on his radical environmental agenda and Biden’s repeated statements expressing support for banning fracking.
Biden lied about never saying he supported banning fracking.
But what made matters worse was when Joe Biden promised to put millions of Americans out of work by eliminating the oil industry.
“I would transition from the oil industry, yes,” Biden ranted. “It’s a big statement because the oil industry pollutes significantly. […] It has to be replaced by renewable energy over time.”
Democrats running in the most competitive races in the country reacted in horror.
New Mexico Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small wasted no time in posting on social media that Joe Biden was out of touch with reality.
“We need to work together to promote responsible energy production and stop climate change, not demonize a single industry,” the congresswoman tweeted. “I will continue to stand up to my party when they’re out of touch with the reality on the ground in #NM02.”
Oklahoma Congresswoman Kendra Horn is defending a seat that is one of the GOP’s top targets to flip this cycle.
Horn tweeted that she disagreed with Joe Biden’s plan to eliminate the oil industry.
“Here’s one of the places Biden and I disagree. We must stand up for our oil and gas industry. We need an all-of-the-above energy approach that’s consumer friendly, values energy independence, and protects OK jobs. I’ll keep fighting for that in Congress,” Horn wrote on social media.
Joe Biden made the gaffe of the debate on Thursday night and it could prove pivotal in the final days of the race as key swing states like Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are dependent on the oil and natural gas industry.
