Joe Biden took office and set about trying to implement the most radical agenda of any President in American history.
But Biden and the Democrats got some bad news.
And now Joe Biden suffered this major defeat in court thanks to Donald Trump.
The centerpiece of Joe Biden’s agenda is implementing a “Green New Deal.”
Much of their “Green New Deal” plans have little to do with anything related to the climate.
In reality many high-profile Democrats recognize and even admit this, including the former Chief of Staff for “Green New Deal” figurehead Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who characterized it as a “how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”
Climate change is the umbrella under which Democrats plan to impose policies to change every aspect of American life from the food you eat, to the car you drive, to energy sources that power communities.
A major component of the “Green New Deal” is banning and ending fossil fuels.
To move the ball forward on this agenda item Joe Biden signed an executive order banning new oil and gas leases on federal lands.
Experts projected this ban could cost up to one million jobs by 2022.
But a federal judge appointed by Donald Trump has swatted down the Biden order, ruling that Joe Biden needed Congressional approval to block new oil and gas leases.
Fox News reports:
Judge Terry A. Doughty of the U.S. District Court in Monroe said the administration doesn’t have the legal right to stop leasing federal territory for oil-and-gas production without approval from Congress.
The judge, appointed by former President Donald Trump, also said that states suing the federal government—largely southern and coastal states—will be harmed immediately as the pause prevents them from collecting lease bids and bonuses from oil-and-gas prospectors.
Donald Trump’s lasting legacy from his term in office will likely be the hundreds of judges Trump appointed to every level of the federal judiciary.
Conservatives hoped Trump’s judge would provide a critical line of defense against unconstitutional overreach by a Democrat President.
And early on in the Biden administration, Trump’s judges are paying off on those hopes.
