Democrats are in trouble.
The data is painting a troubling picture.
And Joe Biden’s pollster gave him a warning that will keep Democrats up at night.
In 2020, Donald Trump increased his share of the female vote by five points.
Trump even ran up bigger numbers among white women without a college degree by six points – winning that demographic 64 to 35 in 2020.
That’s bad news for Democrats because Celinda Lake – one of Joe Biden’s 2020 pollsters told Axios that women without a college degree are suffering from the effects of inflation.
Lake said women “are really experiencing it, because they’re always more focused on kitchen table economics, microeconomics.”
To make matters worse for Democrats, Lake added that a “key target vote in the 2022 election is going to be non-college-educated women,” adding that, “because they are the most undecided.”
This group trended Republican in 2020 and given that runaway inflation is occurring on Joe Biden’s watch, that does not create a fertile political environment for Democrats.
Lake tried to show a path forward for Democrats urging “elected officials to make clear to voters that they understand their lived experiences of higher costs of health care and daily goods — and that they have ideas for how to make the cost of living more affordable.”
Joe Biden tried a variation of this theme at his CNN town hall claiming that spending nearly five trillion dollars on so-called “infrastructure” and welfare programs would slow down inflation.
That answer did not make any sense and didn’t follow any law of economics.
Inflation is rising at the fastest rate since 2008 – when the economy collapsed – and the cost of goods rose more than experts predicted for several months in a row.
This looks to be a huge issue going forward and the group most concerned is a slice of the electorate which Donald Trump grew his vote share among in 2020.
