Joe Biden’s last big decision before he enters the General Election is who to pick as a running mate.
That choice just got more complicated.
And that’s because Joe Biden’s top choice for Vice President just got smacked with some really bad news.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer rocketed to the top of the list potential running mates because her status as a swing state Governor who both managed a pandemic response and repeatedly attacked President Trump on TV.
Whitmer’s approval rating soared after her initial handling of the outbreak in Michigan and that led to chatter that Biden could lock up the election by picking Whitmer and clinching Michigan’s Electoral College votes.
But Whitmer’s fortunes turned on a dime after Whitmer extended her lockdown with Gestapo measures that banned residents from traveling to their own property and banned stores from selling seeds to plant in gardens.
Thousands of Michiganders descended on the state capitol of Lansing to jam up the streets in protest of Whitmer’s tyranny.
In addition, attorney David Helm represented four residents suing Whitmer over her orders shutting down businesses and banning travel to their own homes s violating their First and Fifth Amendment to freely associate and take away their property without just compensation.
Fox 2 in Detroit reports:
They argue ordering businesses to shut down, banning travel to private homes and freedom to associate with one another, violates our First and Fifth Amendment rights.
“Our position is, ordering businesses to shut down, preventing residents and citizens from accessing their second homes, within the state is essentially a taking and they need to be compensated for it.
“We are not arguing for political dissidence or any sort of protest. What we are saying, is that people have the right to associate with their friends and family. And that is being unjustly infringed.”
The protests in Michigan – and around the country – will only grow louder and angrier the longer the shutdown lasts.
That could drastically change the fortunes of Whitmer and other Democrat governors that believe the lockdowns must last for months on end.
