New York, Colorado, Pennsylvania.
Socialists are winning Democrat primaries in all of them – and they just got the one answer they were hoping nobody would say out loud.
Joe Rogan said it – and every DSA candidate running in 2026 knows he's right.

Socialist candidates backed by the Democratic Socialists of America have flipped House incumbents in Colorado and New York, installed Zohran Mamdani as New York City's mayor, and their leaders are now openly saying they want the White House in 2028.
Their pitch sounds simple: make the rich pay.
Joe Rogan cut through it on his podcast.
"You have to have massive authority and usually guns," he told guest Andrew Wilson, "because you can't just steal people's money."
He acknowledged what every honest person already knows – some public services work.
"There are some examples of socialist policies that do work, like the fire department," Rogan said.

But here's what the DSA never explains when they're rallying in Brooklyn or Denver: those programs existed thousands of years before Karl Marx wrote a single word.
Public works, shared infrastructure, communal defense – these things stretch back to ancient Rome.
Socialism didn't invent them.
It hijacks them.

Margaret Thatcher named the trap in 1976.
"Socialist governments traditionally do make a financial mess," she said. "They always run out of other people's money."
Venezuela proved her right.
In 1998, Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries in Latin America – oil-rich, prosperous, functioning.
Hugo Chávez ran on the exact same pitch the DSA runs on today: make the rich pay, redistribute wealth, the government will take care of you.
By 2018, inflation hit 80,000 percent.
Nine out of ten Venezuelans couldn't afford food.

Parents abandoned children in orphanages because they couldn't feed them.
The government that promised to tax the rich ended up rationing toilet paper.
And when the people pushed back – when they said no, you can't just take everything – the guns came out.
Maduro deployed security forces against protesters.
Journalists disappeared.
Opposition leaders went to prison.
This is not a Venezuelan accident.
It is the logical conclusion of Rogan's point: you cannot take wealth at scale without the power to force people to surrender it.
AOC knows this.
Mamdani knows this.
They just don't say it until they need it.

The DSA is now on track to send at least five members to Congress.
They've already knocked off sitting incumbents – Diana DeGette in Colorado, who held her seat for nearly 30 years, gone.
Melat Kiros – 29 years old, democratic socialist – took her seat.

Rogan spelled out exactly where this ends.
"They're not going to let you just come in and decide," he said, "hey, we just devised a new tax where everybody who makes more than $500,000 a year – everything over that, you have to give 100% to the state."
So the socialists will need power to make them.
Real power.
The kind backed by authority, enforcement, and ultimately – as every socialist government in history has eventually discovered – guns.
The DSA is selling the warm part of this story.
Joe Rogan just said the part they left out.
