John Fetterman Just Called Out His Own Party and a Republican Senator Asked Him to Switch Sides

The Democrat Party spent decades pretending socialism was a dirty word.

Now their own members are saying the quiet part out loud.

John Fetterman just saw what the polls actually say – and what happened next has Republicans across the country paying attention.

The Poll That Exposed the Democrat Party's Hard Left Turn

A CBS News/YouGov survey released this week found that 58 percent of Democrats now view socialism positively.

Fifty percent of Democrats view capitalism negatively.

John Fetterman – a sitting Democrat senator from Pennsylvania – posted the numbers and wrote exactly what every conservative in America was thinking.

"The Democratic Party is becoming the party of socialism," he wrote. "I'm a proud free market capitalist. This is lunacy."

He's right.

And this is not a fringe development buried in a poll footnote.

This is a majority of one of America's two major political parties rejecting the economic system that built the most prosperous nation in human history.

Fifteen Years of Gallup Data Predicted Every Bit of This

Back in 2018, Democrats first crossed the threshold – for the first time ever, more Democrats viewed socialism positively than capitalism.

By 2025, 66 percent of Democrats held a positive view of socialism while only 42 percent viewed capitalism favorably – a 24-point gap that had been growing every single year.

The CBS poll this week shows it widening further still.

Socialist candidates have been actively engineering this through primary wins – over 30 of them winning Democrat primaries in 2026 alone.

A 29-year-old graduate student named Melat Kiros just knocked off a nearly 30-year Democrat incumbent in Colorado's 1st Congressional District.

The DSA went from two members of Congress to tracking at least five – and their leaders are already talking about a run at the White House in 2028.

What Fetterman's Warning Actually Reveals

When a Democrat senator goes on Fox News and calls his own party's base a "dirtbag left," something significant has broken inside that party.

Fetterman told Sean Hannity that DSA candidates are running on abolishing ICE, abolishing the police, and abolishing the border.

“I mean … the kind of people they are trying to run out of office, they are just good, traditional kinds of Democrats you would expect in New York City now,” Fetterman told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “And now this has just become — really, it’s just been the dancing days of the dirtbag left. You know, some of these candidates are outrageous,” Fetterman continued, pointing out that some Democrat nominees have proposed abolishing ICE, defunding the police, and tearing down the border.

He told Fox News Digital he "would never try to elevate a communist."

And when Sen. Mike Lee of Utah saw Fetterman's post Sunday, he didn't argue with the diagnosis.

He just invited him to leave.

"John, please join us," Lee wrote. "We're not socialists. And we don't bite."

The entire Republican Party just watched a Democrat senator validate every warning conservatives have been making for a decade – and the only debate now is whether Fetterman eventually crosses the aisle.

He says he won't.

But every socialist primary win makes his position inside the Democrat Party more uncomfortable and more isolated.

The people he's warning America about are the people who will control his party's primary in 2028.

Socialists do not tolerate apostates quietly.

And Fetterman just put himself on their list.
