Kamala Harris is one of the frontrunners for the Democrat Party presidential nomination.
But being at the front of the pack this early in the race comes with many risks.
And Harris learned that lesson the hard way when she sat in front of a TV camera and did the unthinkable.
Because the FBI tried to overthrow Donald Trump, liberals now worship the FBI when just three years earlier they distrusted any and all law enforcement as racist tools of white supremacy.
Kamala Harris found out how hard it is to straddle that line when she appeared on MSNBC and host Kasie Hunt quizzed her about Andrew McCabe and his claims that Trump may be a Russian agent.
Harris was careful not to throw too much weight behind McCabe’s accusations – he was fired for lying – but pivoted to blasting the President for “trusting” Vladimir Putin over U.S. intelligence services.
The 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful then argued there was “no question” Trump “relied” on Russia’s Vladimir Putin over the United States’ intelligence community.
“I believe there is no question, however, that the president has relied on Vladimir Putin over the men and women who have sacrificed in many cases or willing to sacrifice their lives – they are the intelligence community of the United States – to give the president information that he should believe, and upon which he should base his priorities around who our friends and who are not,” she stated. “And I think there’s been a real failure to do that and that’s a real subject of concern for me, and it should be for all of us.”
The biggest bone of contention between Trump and the intelligence community was the assessment by three or four agencies – and not all 17 – that Russia tried to help Trump in the 2016 campaign.
This assessment was prepared when Obama still held power and Trump supporters question the motivation behind the intelligence community reaching this conclusion.
After all, Trump’s energy policies would damage Russia’s economy by freeing up American oil and natural gas production.
And his administration took a harder line on Russia’s incursion into Ukraine than Hillary would have.
The idea Russia hand-picked Trump to win the election is bogus.
But it is a fable Harris has to tell to appease the left-wing base of the party.
However, it comes at the cost of her credibility as a “truth teller” in the general election.
